The Optometry Examining Board of Canada (OEBC) has approved an adjustment to the entry-to-practice examination fees, effective June 1, 2026, for the 2026–2027 examination cycle.
Examination Fees
- Entry-to-Practice Examination Fee: $5,900
- OSCE (Clinical Skills Examination) Component: $3,540
- Written Examination Component: $2,360
- Laser & Minor Procedures Examination: $2,950
All other OEBC examination and program fees remain unchanged.
This adjustment follows a comprehensive review of the examination program’s financial position, cost of delivery, and long-term sustainability. The review considered the full scope of examination development, administration, candidate support, governance, and quality assurance activities required to maintain a high-quality, defensible national assessment program.
The revised fees support:
- Financial sustainability of the examination program, reducing reliance on internally restricted reserves
- Stability and predictability for candidates and schools, with no changes to examination structure or allocation
- Ongoing investment in quality assurance and governance, supporting the integrity and defensibility of OEBC assessments
- Candidate-centred examination delivery, enabling consistent, well-supported examination experiences
OEBC recognizes the financial commitment required of candidates and remains dedicated to transparent fee governance and clear communication.
