OEBC AI Tutor 1.1 (BETA)

Your Study Buddy for Building Exam-Ready Thinking

The OEBC AI Tutor 1.1 is here to help you practice the kind of clinical reasoning, problem-solving, and exam-style thinking you’ll use on the OEBC Entry-to-Practice Examinations. It draws on the OEBC Study Guide, competency model, and exam blueprint to guide your learning — but it doesn’t provide official exam content.

Think of it as a supportive study companion that helps you work through cases, reflect on your decisions, and build confidence as you prepare.

*How to Use the AI Tutor File

The AI Tutor is provided as a downloadable PDF file. After downloading, open the file, copy the full text, and paste it into the large‑language model (LLM) of your choice (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini). The tutor will only work once its instructions are pasted into the model you’re using.

A Friendly Heads-up — This is a BETA Version

We’re excited to share this tool early so you can benefit from it — and help us improve it. Because this is a BETA version, you may notice areas where the tool feels a bit rough around the edges. Also, it is currently only available in English.  If the testing is successful, we’ll build a French version.

As with all AI tools (like Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.):

  • Some answers may be wrong, partially correct, or sound confident but be inaccurate.
  • Large Language Models rely on pattern matching — not clinical judgment.
  • Always check AI-generated content against trusted clinical sources.

Use the tutor to practice your reasoning, not to confirm clinical decisions.

Important Disclaimer

The OEBC Study Guide reminds candidates that while AI-generated cases can be helpful for practice, their outputs often need careful review.

LLMs don’t “reason” the way clinicians do — they generate text based on patterns. That means:

  • You must verify all information the AI provides.
  • The AI Tutor is not a substitute for proper study, clinical training, or evidence-based resources.
  • OEBC is not responsible for any decisions, interpretations, or actions based on AI-generated content.

A recent journal review of AI tools in retinal care highlighted an important lesson: Clear prompts and human supervision are essential. Even strong AI systems can be unclear or incorrect if not guided carefully.

How the AI Tutor Supports Your Prep

To make your practice more useful, the tutor sometimes includes extra details you won’t see on your exam. This is intentional—it helps you learn to interpret findings, think through cases, and connect decisions to competencies.

The tutor can help you:

  • Practice exam-style reasoning
  • Explore written style or OSCE style scenarios
  • Get coaching prompts rather than instant answers
  • Reflect on your choices and strengthen your approach

It’s here to support your studying — not to replace your study plan.

We Want to Hear from You!

After each exam administration, we survey candidates to ask about their overall exam experience and the tools they used to prepare. If you use the OEBC AI Tutor 1.1, we would love to hear what you think. Your suggestions directly shape how we improve this tool.

You can share your feedback in your post-exam survey, or email us at exams@oebc.ca.
